The Cyclical Nature of Things: Process Images

Image
This is an image I was working on in class. I combined photos of a table where I keep my planner and other school stuff, my nightstand, my room taken from the perspective of my bed, and my cat. I feel that this fits more with my original concept of: ROUTINE.

The Cyclical Nature of Things: First Stab

I made two attempts at an image, but I am lost on where to go. I'm not very proud of these. My concept in one word is ROUTINE. My 40 images were all of things I often see and places I often go. For the first image I used the breezeway of my apartment complex, and instead of the normal end, I added a photo I took of an eerie scene I saw one day while walking around stores in the mall. I wanted to create a sort of liminal space and make it feel unsettling. For the second image I used a photo of my living room taken from the floor (I spend a lot of time there when I'm stressed). I included pictures of mine and my roommate's cats because they're a big part of my life. I also added a spiral pattern of my cat's glowing eye. I'm not sure why.

I'm not sure of the route I am going to take this project, but the idea I was getting while taking these photos deal with my daily routine, the places I go, and things I see throughout each week. It seems to always cycle through a few select places.

I ended up breaking up and resizing parts of the original image. I then put filters on them from the filter gallery. I included the sequin and leather textures, along with a couple of patterns. I used blending modes over each layer.

Destroy the Icon: Iterations — Part 2

I've been trying to make the original image less and less recognizable through my iterations. This was my first. I've mainly been playing around with blending modes. In this next iteration I incorporated a pattern. I cropped out part of another image and made a pattern out of two of Freddie Mercury's most recognizable features—his mouth and mustache. In this third iteration I decided to take the main figure and duplicate it a couple of times while resizing. I think this makes it a bit more interesting. I'm not sure where I'll go from here.   I started off by removing the background, I then played around with a couple of textures (sequins and leather) and tried a few blending modes.
